I have not been keeping my promise to post at least once a week! But in my defense, it has been a busy season.
We drove a week and a half ago from our home in southern Mississippi back to Iowa, which is always SO FUN with a toddler.... (Please read the sarcasm there.)
Traveling in any way with a toddler is pretty miserable. I haven't had the pleasure of flying with him yet, but it can't be much worse than driving. He of course can't sit in his car seat for extended periods of time, and I can't say I blame him. How uncomfortable to be strapped into an inflexible position for hours without understanding the concept of being on the way somewhere that he can eventually get out. We stopped so many times to let him stretch his legs, which made the trip take so much longer.
But we did make it safely, and have been having a wonderful time! We have been really enjoying time with extended family, and they made sure that James was well spoiled for Christmas! He liked his presents from Santa, which included some Mega Blocks and a car ramp with cars, but his favorites were from his grandparents. A Thomas the Train ride from the Kelly side and a set of John Deere tractor toys from the Franklin side. Lots of books and clothes and the like, too, and Pappy Joe got us the membership to the Children's Museum we've already been using.
We did pretty well ourselves. I can't wait to use my new jogging stroller when we get home, and Dustin has barely taken off the Doctor Who robe I got him! He wrote me the following haiku as my present:
Life is hard, especially for a mom.
Spa day for you!
Boobs.
So of course I can't WAIT to get home and get that wonderful gift! Life IS difficult for moms, and it's nice to have that acknowledged. In the meantime, we are SO excited for James to really experience snow for the first time tomorrow!
Wishing you all the happiest of New Years. Thanks for reading!
